New York Catholic High School Football League


It's a big country, and sometimes things fall between the cracks, but thanks to Mark M., The High School Football Huddle would like to give info on the New York Catholic High School Football League that played its championship games on the weekend of November 15th and 16th.

St. Anthony's, which began the season ranked in the USA Today Super 25, won it's seventh straight CHSFL AA title beating Mount St. Michael 26-20. The win was sweet revenge for the Friars (10-1), who lost to Mount St. Michael 22-12 on September 22nd. The win snapped St. Anthony's 64-game regular season CHSFL win streak.

West Genesee, Bishop Ludden and Rye Win New York High School Football Championships


For the second straight year Monroe-Woodbury came within one win of a state championship. West Genesee beat M-W Sunday 42-21 to win the New York Class AA high school football championship at Syracuse's Carrier Dome.

The win gives West Genesee its first high school football championship, while Monroe-Woodbury finishes runner-up for the second straight season even though it now owns a 36-2 record in its last 38-games.

In the Class C title game Bishop Ludden (12-1) beat defending state champ Dobbs Ferry 21-16. Bishop Ludden was led quarterback Connor Sweeney who passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns.

It was Bishop Ludden's first state championship and the win snapped Dobbs Ferry's 23-game win streak.

Rye won the Class B title beating Chenango Forks 19-12.

William Floyd Makes Long Island History


For the first time in 106 years of Long Island high school football, a team has won 33 straight games. William Floyd won its 33rd straight game and third straight Class 1 Long Island football championship on Saturday by beating Farmingdale 42-0.

Floyd becomes the first team to go undefeated for three consecutive seasons since Roosevelt did it from 1964-66.

#22 St. Anthony's (NY) Limps By Iona Prep

Injuries to quarterback James Brady and running back Chris Carberry were enough to prevent #22 St. Anthony's (South Huntingdon, NY) from beating Iona Prep 31-21 Friday night. Brady injured his foot in the first half and limped his way through the rest game on a heavily taped ankle. Carberry didn't play most of the second half with a hand injury.
